Au nanowire formation and extension

This is work due to Harold Park at Vanderbilt and Jon Zimmerman at Sandia to study how nanowires form under tensile loading at differing strain rates. The image and movie show Au atoms colored by their potential energy for an EAM potential. The movie was made with the Ensight visualization package.
