Current experimental measurements and theoretical calculations of the solid-liquid (SL) interfacial free energy (IFE) are scattered with conflicts. We therefore propose a new theoretical method that is simultaneously concise, efficient and accurate, and argue for its use as a standard for determining the SL IFE. This method is applicable to most materials.
