In this work, magnetic treatment was proposed as an effective post treatment to improve the corrosion resistance of the WC-10Co4Cr coating. The corrosion of the binder in the as -sprayed and constant magnetic treatment (MT) coatings initiated from the localized attack at WC/Co interfaces, whereas uniform corrosion was observed in the pulsed magnetic treatment (PMT) coating. The transformation from the disordered WC/Co interface to the coherent interface after PMT mainly contributed to the variation in the corrosion behavior. Molecular dynamic simulations further revealed that the difference in the effect of MT and PMT resulted from intervals between magnetic pulses.
